Recently I was a part of the huge studio engines that so successfully brought Hannah Montana and 17 Again into the public consciousness. Our release of You is miniscule in comparison. It's just us! It feels overwhelming at times but it's also tremendously exciting to be one of the pioneers of releasing a film on the internet when everyone thinks this will, ultimately, be the future. By word of mouth, over the internet, we are attempting to make our movie The Little Engine that Could.
Gildart and I were asked by famed independent film agency Cinetic (John Sloss's company) to be one of the first feature films released and distributed over the internet. Most people believe that what happened to music on the internet will happen to movies and Cinetic recently started a new division of their company to be at the forefront of this seismic shift.
We are pioneering this new world of internet distribution with the release of You on Itunes® and Amazon® on May 8, 2009. — Melora
Wow what a year I've had so far, starting with fulfilling one of my dreams to star on Broadway, singing, dancing and acting all at once! CHICAGO was a blast and Roxie is just a fantastic character to play 8 times a week! Thanks to those who came out to see me and I wish you could've all seen me in my bliss!!!
Now I'm about to fulfill another dream of mine to get our film, You, out into the world. You is my directorial debut and is quite a family affair and a real passion project. My husband wrote the screenplay, I directed it, we both star in it and co-produced it together, our kids are in it, my parents are in it and lots of wonderful and talented friends like Brenda Strong, Allison Mack, Joely Fisher, Jerry Hardin, Don Michael Paul, and one of my very best friends, Paula Cole, wrote the title song and sings it for us. You is a touching love story that seems to really be moving audiences and that makes me very proud and happy. Movies are to be seen and I am so happy to finally be able to share it with you all. Thank you in advance for helping us send You out into the wide world in an effective and exciting way and helping another one of my dreams become a reality. We can't do it without you, the audience! — Melora
Sometimes we do things that we know are going to be hard even before we start. Making our movie You was one such thing. We made the film in 18 days, cut it over the next year and a half and just now are ready to let the world in and the movie out. You is my directorial debut and I am very proud and excited to give the film wings. Making You was truly a labor of love from start to finish and it's success in the world will mean I can make another film this way which was so fulfilling, challenging and wonderful it's hard to put into words. With your support, the movie will do what movies are supposed to do, be watched, move people, make us laugh, cry and feel. This film is a deep creative expression of mine and my family and I thank you for all of your interest in me and my work and thank you in advance for anyone who feels inspired to help make the release of You a success! — Melora
